Solutions for Exporters

Paid in foreign currency. We handle the exchange.

A South African foreign exchange specialist for businesses that sell abroad.

What we handle

The foreign exchange around an export receipt.

Seven areas, handled together rather than referred on. Each forms part of the foreign exchange work that supports an export transaction from receipt through settlement.

  • Proceeds from your international customers, received through established banking channels.

  • Converted to rand at a rate confirmed to you before it is applied.

  • A rate agreed in advance of the exchange, for a requirement dated later. Suitability depends on the requirement.

  • Assistance with the process where proceeds are to stay in the currency received. Accounts are held with authorised banking partners rather than by Grosvenor Forex.

  • The required BoP information is captured accurately for each transaction, supporting compliant processing and helping avoid unnecessary delays.

  • For the payments that leave again once proceeds are in — suppliers, subsidiaries and obligations abroad.

  • Support for the requirement as a whole — the exchange itself, the reporting around it and the payments that follow.

Money arriving in a foreign currency is also a decision.

The rate on the day

A rate agreed in advance

A rate agreed in advance is a forward exchange contract. When to use one depends on the requirement and is something we work through with you.

Behind the receipt

Every receipt starts a long way from a foreign exchange desk.

Ore loaded, produce graded and packed, components built to specification, services delivered under contract. The buyer is abroad, the sale settles in a foreign currency, and that is where our part begins.

Why Grosvenor

Why exporters choose Grosvenor.

The reasons an exporter chooses one foreign exchange specialist over another.

  1. The rate is confirmed before it is applied.

Not reported afterwards on a statement. You know the figure you are accepting at the point you accept it.

  2. Competitive pricing, and a reason for it.

Value supported by expertise and long-standing banking relationships, rather than by volume alone.

  3. You are not obliged to take whatever the day brings.

A forward exchange contract puts the timing of that decision in your hands.

  4. Proceeds do not have to become rand immediately.

Where holding the currency received suits the requirement, we assist with the process. The accounts themselves are held with authorised banking partners.

  5. The reporting travels with the transaction.

One requirement, rather than an exchange followed by a piece of administration.

  6. You speak to the people doing the work.

Direct access to experienced specialists, so you know who is handling the requirement.

  7. Two decades of doing this in South Africa.

The regulatory standing and the banking relationships that come with it.
