Solutions for Individuals

Personal foreign exchange. And the process around it.

Allowance transfers, exchange control support, and payments abroad.

What we handle

The reason changes. The process does not.

Nine personal foreign exchange requirements. Most involve a process before a payment, and the process is the work.

  • A payment to a person or an institution abroad, arranged and processed through established banking channels.

  • Transfers made using the annual allowances available to South African residents, handled correctly from the outset.

  • International payments for tuition, accommodation and other study-related costs, with the required documentation handled as part of the process.

  • Foreign currency transfers for travel, accommodation and related overseas expenses, arranged within the applicable allowance and documentation requirements.

  • Help understanding which requirements apply to a particular transfer, and completing them accurately.

  • The currency and the process for an investment decision already taken. The decision itself stays with you and your advisor.

  • The transfers that come with a change of residence, in either direction, and the process each one carries.

  • Currency held rather than converted, where that suits the requirement. Grosvenor assists with the process — the account itself belongs to an authorised banking partner.

  • Direct access to experienced specialists for personal foreign exchange requirements, with clear guidance and careful handling from start to finish.

The reason is personal. The process is ours to get right.

Why Grosvenor

Why individuals choose Grosvenor.

Most of these reasons are about the process, not the payment.

  1. The process is the service.

Understanding which exchange control requirements apply to a transfer, and completing them accurately, is most of the work. It is not an extra.

  2. Unfamiliar to you. Routine to us.

The requirement is unfamiliar to the person meeting it and routine to the people handling it. That asymmetry is the whole reason to use a specialist.

  3. Competitive rates, and where they come from.

Expertise, and banking relationships established long enough to be worth something.

  4. It is prepared before it is submitted.

Accurate documentation and professional communication, so a requirement goes forward once rather than coming back for something that was missing.

  5. A person, not a reference number.

Direct access to experienced specialists. You will know their name, and they will know your requirement.

  6. An answer when you need one.

Direct communication and quick responses — the part of the service that matters most once a transfer is already in motion.

  7. The boundary is stated, not blurred.

Foreign exchange and the process around it. Not investment advice, and not the account itself — those stay with your advisor and with an authorised banking partner.
